When life feels overwhelming, even the simplest tasks can feel impossible. You may find yourself stuck in patterns of overthinking, shame, or perfectionism — pushing harder but still feeling like you're falling short. Maybe anxiety or undiagnosed ADHD has left you scattered and exhausted, or past experiences keep showing up in ways you can't quite name.
You don't have to figure it all out alone.
Hi, I'm Ashlie Austin, a therapist passionate about helping women who feel "never enough" find relief, confidence, and self-compassion. I specialize in working with women navigating perfectionism, ADHD, and anxiety, and I provide trauma-informed care to help untangle the experiences that keep you feeling stuck. I am trained in EMDR, which can be especially effective for healing from painful memories and breaking free from patterns rooted in the past.
In our work together, I'll meet you exactly where you are, offering a safe, collaborative space where your story is honored and your strengths are seen. My approach is compassionate, grounding, and practical. We'll focus on helping you feel more capable and balanced in daily life while building a deeper understanding of yourself.
As you learn new tools, develop self-compassion, and release old patterns, you'll begin to feel calmer, more confident, and more connected to the life you want to create.
What I specialize in
Areas of focus.
Anxiety
When overthinking, worry, or physical tension are getting in the way of daily life. We'll work to understand what your anxiety is telling you and build tools to manage it.
Perfectionism & Shame
Pushing harder but still feeling like you're falling short. We'll untangle where that started, what keeps feeding it, and how to close the gap between who you are and who you think you should be.
ADHD
Especially for women who've gone undiagnosed or unsupported for years. The scattered feeling, the shame, the exhaustion of trying to keep up with a world that wasn't designed for how your brain works.
Trauma-Informed Care
Whether it has a name or just shows up as patterns you can't quite explain. Trauma-informed care helps untangle the experiences that keep you feeling stuck.
Life Transitions
New relationships, career changes, loss, or simply becoming a different version of yourself. Sometimes the hardest part is figuring out who you are on the other side.
About EMDR
Beyond traditional talk therapy.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be especially effective for healing from painful memories and breaking free from patterns rooted in the past. It's research-backed and goes beyond traditional talk therapy to help the brain process what it's been holding onto.
EMDR isn't only for trauma. It can be a powerful tool for anxiety, perfectionism, intrusive thoughts, and a range of experiences that haven't responded to other approaches.
I use EMDR in regular sessions and in concentrated intensives for clients who want to go deeper.

FAQ
Common questions.
How long are sessions?+
Individual sessions are 50 minutes. EMDR intensives run 2 to 4 hours and are scheduled separately.
Do you offer telehealth?+
Yes — I see clients via telehealth anywhere in North Carolina.
Do you accept insurance?+
I accept BCBS NC, Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare. When billing insurance, a diagnosis is required — that's standard practice. Self-pay and sliding scale options are also available.
What if I've never been to therapy before?+
This is a great place to start. We begin wherever you are and move at a pace that feels right for you.
What if we're not the right fit?+
The therapeutic relationship matters, and finding the right fit is part of the process. If we discover we're not the best match, we'll figure that out together and I'll help connect you with someone who is.
